Stage of Pregnancy - Third Trimester Pregnancy

Stage of Pregnancy

There are three stages of pregnancy which are the first, second and third trimesters. Because each pregnancy is unique so growth may differ as we describe each of these three stages.

Third Trimester Pregnancy

The Third Trimester is the 27 to 40 weeks of pregnancy. During the third trimester consideration should be given to the packing of hospital bag and delivery methods.

By end of this trimester the mother may have gain 25-35 pounds. Below is a brief outline of how much pregnancy weight gain a woman should gain by the end of the third trimester.

 
Pre-Pregnancy Weight Acceptable Pregnancy Weight Gain  
Under Weight 30 - 40 pounds  
Normal Weight 25 - 35 pounds  
Over Weight 15 - 25 pounds  
 

The pregnancy weight gain go towards the following (estimates figures):

  • Baby: 7.5 pounds
  • Uterus: 2 pounds
  • Placenta: 1.5 pounds
  • Breasts: 2 pounds
  • Blood and Fluid: 8 pounds
  • Fat: 7 pounds

Baby Development During the Third Trimester:

  • Development of taste buds
  • The linning of the baby’s lungs will be growing
  • The baby will begin to turn into a head down position

Third Trimester Pregnancy Symptom:

  • excretion of colostrums ( foremilk)
  • Balance is effected by the belly's weight
  • Walking differently to accommodate for the weight of the fetus
  • Experiencing back pain
  • Shortness of breath
